Hi, I’m Brittany!

I am a trained marriage and family therapist that provides therapy, or counseling, for teens and young adults. Being a marriage and family therapist means I think in terms of relationships and the systems in which we live in. That may include our families, social/friend circles, schools, workplaces, as well as the larger community in which we are embedded. I believe in the power of understanding the larger contexts in which we all live.

I have lived in the Whatcom County community all my life and it is a privilege to serve in this beautiful place we call home! When I am not in the therapy room, I enjoy reading, eating good food, traveling, listening to and seeing live music, and camping.

I graduated from Western Washington Univesity with a BA from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2007. After taking a year off to work in mental health settings, I then went to Antioch University Seattle and graduated with my Masters in Psychology from the Child, Couples and Family program. I have worked in many different settings including substance abuse inpatient treatment, inpatient psychiatric unit, community mental health and schools.

My Therapeutic Style and Approach

Every therapist is a little different in how they approach supporting their clients! The last decade plus as a practicing clinician, working in a variety of settings and helping with many different conflicts and difficulties in people’s lives, have all informed the presence and style of support I bring to the therapy room. My style is emotion and process oriented and I create a space that is non-judgmental and accepting, that allows for vulnerability, authenticity, and transparency. The therapeutic relationship we create together is of great importance in the work you will do. In addition to the theories I learned in the marriage and family therapy training I received, I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy, somatic practices, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
